From--- Ballymoney & Coleraine District

Glebeside Spar

Sponsors Of

The Ballymoney & Coleraine Snooker League.

The officials of the above league, only established in September 2007, are very pleased with the progress and support they have received from the players, the snooker clubs and the generosity of their sponsors from the local areas, in their inaugural year.

The distinction of winning the league in its first year went to the renowned Triangle Snooker Club.

The league completed, the next event on the calendar was the Sam Walker Knock-out Cup, This is an three man team event, the final took place in the Coleraine British Legion Club, on Monday 3rd March '08 between Dunloy "A"and Triangle snooker club,

the report:

Dunloy ‘A’ threw their league form out of the window by beating

league champions, Triangle Snooker Club, 6-2 in the final of the

Sam Walker Knockout Cup. There was no doubt that the man of

the match was Dunloy’s David Baker who won all three frames

against Lee Hull, recording over 100 points in his final frame.

This was his best snooker to date, and what a night to produce it.

It was also a good performance from Seamus Doherty, winning

both frames against Mark Hutchinson. Leonard McConaghie had

an off night but still took a frame off William Boreland who was

very impressive on the night.

The next Calendar event was the Baker Perpetual Doubles Cup.

With the early rounds completed the final was played in the

Coleraine British Legion Club on Wednesday 21st March '08,

in contest were the pairs from Triangle Snooker Club and

Dunloy Snooker Club,

the report:

It was Triangle Snooker Club who took their second trophy of the

season when their partnership of William Eakin and William Boreland

beat Dunloy’s duo, Seamus Doherty and David Baker, 4-0 at the

Coleraine British Legion Club in front of a large crowd of supporters.

It was the Triangle pairing who took command, taking the first two

frames easily. A nice fluke by William Boreland set up a well-taken

break of 47 to claim the third. The fourth frame looked as if the

Dunloy pair were on the road to winning their first frame with a

lead of 21 points with 22 remaining on the table. However,

William Eakin took the remaining colours in his stride to lift the

trophy and the plaudits that went with it.
